This St.Michael Shield Scapular design is from the 1800's.  It is made according to traditional rules of the church.  The form of this scapular is somewhat distinct, in that the two segments of cloth have the form of a small shield; one is made of blue and the other of black cloth, and one of the bands likewise is blue and the other black.

Each shield depicts a picture of St. Michael the Archangel slaying the dragon, with the inscription Quis ut Deus?, - 'Who is like God?" - the battle cry of the faithful angels of Heaven.

This is the badge of the Arch Confraternity of Saint Michael, founded in 1878. Blessed Pope Pius IX gave it his blessing and it was indulgenced by Pope Leo XIII.

Each shield measures 3-1/2 by 2-3/4 inches in size, (larger than may scapulars - badge size).

Scapular Made of 100% wool with heavy duty nylon cords.

The scapular comes with a fold out pamphlet which includes a brief history on the scapular, prayers and novenas to St. Michael and the complete enrollment and blessing insert.
